Spitzdudde and Huddelbaetz

I never heard this name before and there is no translation into English possible.

We are into the 5th season of the year in the moment. Carnival or Fastnacht or Fasching. Before lent starts, in mostly catholic regions the festivities are starting. Since many kinds of food should not be eaten during the fasting time, different bakes are done.

Like pancakes on Shrove Tuesday before Ash Wednesday in Brittain or in the US.

In small towns in the North of Baden-Wurttemberg there are traditional specialities. Only in this towns at the local bakeries available.
Go just a couple of kilometers into an other town, they bake totally different things with other names to it.

The carnival man is made from buttery short crust pastry with red and black Nonpareille
sugar pearls.
It tastes like a solid cookie and is great with a cup of tea or coffee.

The cake is a cream layered cake with colourful Nonpareille and the head of a clown on top.
