Frankfurter Grüne Sauce. 7 different herbs in a pack.
An easy way to make a very delicious pesto. And it really has the familiar taste of the sauce you eat with potatoes and eggs. I wrote several blogs on that green sauce and the history already.
I needed fresh pesto for a salad I was making. First I wanted just to buy only a bunch of basil and do the usual. But basil this moment is very expensive. The paper envelope that contained all the 7 herbs was much cheaper. And all of the herbs were grown locally in a part of the city of Frankfurt in Oberrad. It is called Frankfurt´s vegetable garden.
The 7 herbs are: parsley, chives, sorrel, pimpinella, chervil, borage, cress.
Together with pine nuts, almonds, pecorino cheese, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper they went into a blender.
