Served with traditional Nuernberger Bratwurst.
I made sweet potato mash before, but the more common variety, with cinnamon and marshmallows. This savoury kind is more my favourite mash.
Spiceblend use is my way of getting rid of many 15 g packages of different spiceblends from my Advent calender. The name of the blend is not very interesting to me. I look on the backside of the package and check the list of spices. Many are really versatile and match with lots of ingredients.
This time the Fajtias blend was my choosen one. It will take a couple of dishes to get all of this package done. Olé.
I peeled the huge sweet potato and cut it in large chunks and cooked them in salted water.
After draining I used a potato masher, some butter and a little cream first to make the rough mash. Then the Fajtias seasoning and pepper went in next. More cream and some dried chives. I had grated 50 g of Grana Padano on my microplane. That went in next.
The moment it had the right consistency, roughly a small handfull of Danish crunchy deep fried onions went in and some as a finish on top.
The Bratwurst browned in a pan and was served with the mash. Some red beet salad completed the dish.
