Bratwurst with Leek Sauce and Bacon

The package of sausages reached its expiration date today. It was sitting in the fridge for 2 weeks while I waited for the weather to allow to put the electric BBQ outside.  The two weeks we had some kind of early spring, I had nothing at home to put on. The weekend I bought the sausages, the weather turned to winter again. Today we have a heavy storm with everything not tied down is flying around. No way to put the grill outside.

This Bratwurst is cooked already and just needs some time to heat through and take some color.

Leek is a vegetable that is often only used to enhance flavour in a dish. I like it on its own. A great combination for leek is bacon. Adding some sausage to it makes leek even more tasty.

Recipe for 3:

2 stalks of leek, 4 Bratwurst pre cooked, 1 tbsp oil, 2 tsp dried Majoram

50 g bacon, 30 ml Noilly Prat, 100 ml milk. 300 ml veg stock, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, chives

Cut leek with lots of its green in rings, the Bratwurst too. Cube the bacon and put that into a pan first with the oil. Then leek and sausage. Let it get some color.

Add majoram, season and add Noilly Prat.

Next milk and stock. Bring to a boil again, reduce the heat and cover with a lid abd cook for 20 min. Add chives.
