This is a Greek recipe.
The mixed ground pork and beef has got a good dose of cinnamon with the usual spices. That gives the very distinct flavour together with oregano and thyme.
The short rice like pasta is often used in bakes like this. It keeps its structure and does not get mushy like other pasta while baking.
I had a big portion of ground meats. Taking some of the cooked meat out of the pan for an other dish before adding the final spices.
Having some leftover Feta from an other dish, it was a bit less what I needed. But some Parmesan goes with every dish.
Recipe for 2:
150 g Kritharaki pasta
300 g mixed ground pork/beef
1 yellow 1 red onion, 3 garlic cloves
2 tbsp tomato paste/ hot paprika paste
200 g homemade tomato sauce
1 tbsp oil
Salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, smoked paprika
1 tsp cinnamon
75 g Feta 25 g Parmesan
Preheat the oven 180 C fan.
Cook the pasta and drain. Chop onions and garlic.
Heat up some oil and brown the meat, season and add the onions and garlic. When done pour in the tomato/ paprika paste and stir well. Add the tomato sauce and the cinnamon.
Oil a baking dish. Put the pasta in, the meat on top and finish with cheese. Bake for 20 min. Let it sit outside the oven for 15 min, then serve.
