On my way back from the Racetrack in Oschersleben I stopped in Quedlinburg, Saxonia Anhalt.
I wanted to buy a couple of pieces of their famous Cheesecakes. But the cafe opens at 10 AM and I was a bit early.
A good way to kill some time is a stop at a supermarket. I was lucky to find some things that I could not get at home.
Wurstsuppe or sausage soup is the liquid the sausages get cooked after the slaughtering of the pig. Some of the meat is made in to blood sausages and liver sausages. When they are freshly filled in the casings, they need cooking to be ready to sell.
Sometimes a sausage or two or three break open because the casing got punched.
These soups are eaten after all other sausages have been taken out to cool down.
The glass jar here contained the pieces of blood sausage, liver sausages and sausage meatballs.
On my mothers side of the family, they had house slaughters of a pig they bought and had meat, ham and sausages all winter long.
You can eat that just with bread. But short angelhair pasta works very well too. I added some chives and parsley as a finish.
