I rarely use some sauce stock from a package.
But last year I made a slow cooker dish that needed such a thing. Since these were not available in single servings, there were more of them in my cupboard.
The expiration date comes around in spring. Now was the time to use up one more sauce base from the package.
But brown sauce over pasta sounded absolutely boring. I bought some thin fresh pork sausages at the butcher. Cut in bite size pieces and browned in the pan in some oil with a bit of garlic.
A small bell pepper and a green onion went in for the veggie part.
Since the sauce comes with a lot of salt, I only used some pepper to season.
Ingredients:
100 g small pasta cooked in salted water
1 bell pepper, 2 garlic cloves, 1 green onion
1 tbsp rapeseed oil, pepper
1 brown sauce pack with 250 ml hot water
Drain the pasta 2 min before the end of the cooking time and finish cooking it in the brown sauce. That way it soaks up a lot of sauce and tastes a lot better.
