Salicorne - Samphire - Sea Asparagus - Queller -so many different names for a very salty plant.
It growes where saltwater had changed the soil in a salty ground. The seeds need freshwater to grow. I saw huge fields on the mouth of the Seine where it reaches the Channel.
But Samphire is not a waterplant.
The first thing to prepare it as a salad is a good wash. In this salad no additional salt is needed. Just use freshly ground pepper, fresh squeezed lemon juice and a good olive oil.
For a little balance of the flavour, toss in a hand full of cherry tomatoes.
I served the salad with two 3 piece seafood skewers from my fishmonger.
Salmon, Pangasius and a Tiger Prawn. Seasoned on a wooden skewer. They need 8 minutes in the air fryer at 180 C.
I cooked Basmati and added a Korean roasted seafood snack to the rice.
