I saw this on FB and it was anounced as a 10 min dessert. I wrote it down and thought: hmm I doubt it, but lets try it!
It takes definietly longer, the cooling times between the steps were left out. And it is a lot more to do.
No additional sugar is needed, the bananas are all the sweetness that comes with this dessert. The riper the ones you have, the sweeter the dessert will be. Mine were a little too hard.
Recipe for 4:
3 large bananas
40 g butter
1/3 tsp Annato powder or tumeric
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 eggs yolks
25 g cornstarch
200 ml whole milk
200 g whipped cream
Melt the butter in a pot and toss the cut up bananas in. Cook until very soft. Now either take a stick blender or a potato masher and get to work. I did not want it too creamy, the masher was the right choice for me. Add the coloring.
Take it out of the pot in a bowl and cool it down a bit. Add egg yolks and the cornstarch.
Clean the pot and heat up the milk. Get the banana mix in and stir constantly until you have a thick pudding. Fill it in a bigger bowl and put clingfilm directly on top.
Cool down, then stick in the fridge for 1 hour. Beat the double cream until stiff. Use the same whisk to smooth out the banana mix. Fold in the cream.
Now the dessert is ready to serve.
